Experienced Lebanese Wael Arakji (193-G-1994) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Al-Ula and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 31-year old guard had the game-high 35 points adding seven rebounds and six assists for Al-Ula in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Al Sharjah (#4, 0-1) with 34-point margin 108-74. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Al-Ula is placed at 2nd position in West Asia Super League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Al-Ula won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Arakji had a remarkable 78.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al-Ula's top player in his first season with the team. Arakji has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 35.0ppg), assists (6th best: 6.0apg) and averages solid 78.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was American guard Deshawndre Washington (201-G, agency: The Crew A.M.) of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai. Washington impressed basketball fans with 39 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Shabab Al Ahli lost that game 88-94 to Al Ittihad (1-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Washington is a newcomer at Shabab Al Ahli and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 39.0ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 9.0rpg and 7.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Erick Neal (178-PG-1995) of top-ranked Al Ittihad Jeddah. Neal showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 17 assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Al Ittihad, leading his team to a 94-88 win against #4 ranked Shabab Al Ahli in a game of the week. Al Ittihad has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Neal also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Neal as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Neal attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jonathan Gibson (188-PG-1987) of Al-Ula - 38 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Glenn Robinson III (198-F-1994) of Al Sharjah - 24 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Mohammed Alsuwailem (211-C-1998) of Al-Ula - 15 points and 13 rebounds
7. Kavell Bigby-Williams (211-C-1995) of Al Sharjah - 16 points and 11 rebounds
8. DeMarco Dickerson (196-G-1997) of Al Sharjah - 17 points, 3 rebounds and 13 assists
9. Ater Majok (210-C-1987) of Shabab Al Ahli - 11 points and 12 rebounds
10. Thon Maker (216-C-1997) of Al-Ula - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
